Green Man of the Lady Chapel

Posted by Bear (Cambridge, United Kingdom) on 12 April 2013 in Architecture and Portfolio.

This is one of the only face figures that survived the reformation in Ely Cathedrals Lady Chapel- one speculates that as a pagan figure in a religious building, it didn't offend the reformers who removed all the faces of all the other statues and figures in this part of the cathedral. Image is desaturated and put through Topaz filters to try and bring out the details and somewhat sinister feel of it.
